Will Smith Slaps Chris Rock on Oscars Stage
This years Oscars got a bigger show than they bargained for when Will Smith went onstage and slapped Chris Rock while he was presenting an award. Rock was presenting the award for “best documentary feature” when he made a joke at the expense of Jada Pinkett Smith, saying:
“Jada, I love ya. GI Joe 2, can’t wait to see it”
At first glance, Smith seemed to laugh off the joke, but Pinkett Smith did not seem to appreciate the dig at her appearance as she suffers from an autoimmune disorder called Alopecia. Smith then stunned the entire audience when he walked up to Rock and slapped him in the face before returning to his seat. “Wow,” said Rock afterward. “Will Smith just smacked the s**t out of me.”

Smith’s comments that followed were blocked but in an uncensored video released that was covering the 2022 Oscars, Smith was heard repeatedly yelling “Keep my wife’s name out of your f***ing mouth,” as the Dolby fell silent. It’s reported that Rock apologized to the Smiths backstage with Denzel Washington getting involved.
Smith later took the stage to accept an award for his portrayal of Richard Williams in King Richard that earned him the “Best Actor” award. He apologized to the Academy and others with tears in his eyes but he did not apologize to Rock. He then drew comparisons to the moment at the Oscars and the life of Venus and Serena Williams father, saying:
“I’m not crying for winning an award, it’s not about winning an award for me. It’s about being able to shine light on all of the people Art imitates life, I look like the crazy father just like they said about Mr. Williams. Love makes you do crazy things.”
He then apologized to the Williams sisters, his mother and wife Jada. Check out the uncensored video below:
