We Own This City Trailer Features the Baltimore Drug War in the Jon Bernthal Led Series
HBO has released a trailer for the upcoming limited series We Own This City. The series is created by the duo that developed the acclaimed series The Wire, George Pelecanos and David Simon. Taking a look at the tensions between the Baltimore Police Force and the community and the drug war in the city. The Jon Bernthal-led series will follow the Gun Trace Task Force scandal that took place in Baltimore in 2017 with the six-episode mini-series chronicling the event that shocked not only the city but the entire country.
The limited series was adapted from the novel We Own This City: A True Story of Crime, Cops, and Corruption by Baltimore Sun reporter Justin Fenton. The book showcases the rise and fall of the Baltimore Police Department’s Gun Trace Task Force along with the corruption and the drug prohibition and mass arrest policies that befell the city that overtook the city at the expense of police work.
Starring alongside Bernthal will be Wunmi Mosaku, Jamie Hector, and Josh Charles, as well as The Wire alumni Jamie Hector, Darrell Britt-Gibson, Domenick Lombardozzi, Trey Chaney, Delaney Williams, Jermaine Crawford, Anwan Glover, Chris Clanton, Nathan Corbett, Maria Broom, Susan Rome, and Michael Salconi. The limited series will be directed by Reinaldo Marcus Green.
We Own This City will premiere on April 25th, 2022 on HBO and HBO Max. Check out the trailer below:
