Universal Monsters: Frankenstein Reimagines the Classic Universal Monster in New Skybound Comic Series

Skybound Entertainment and Image Comics, in collaboration with Universal, have unveiled Universal Monsters: Frankenstein, a thrilling four-issue limited comic book series by acclaimed artist and writer Michael Walsh (The Silver Coin). Scheduled to hit comic book shops this August, this new series promises to bring a reimagining of the iconic Frankenstein saga.

Michael Walsh, the comics superstar behind this project, will be reimagining one of the most legendary monsters of all time in a jaw-dropping narrative. Each issue of the limited series will delve deep into the shocking story behind one of the body parts used to create the unforgettable monster in the original film.

Reflecting on his involvement in this project, creator Michael Walsh expressed:

“The story of Dr. Frankenstein and his misunderstood monster is one of the most influential horror tales ever told, and it’s also one of my favorites. Trying to tell an original story while staying true to the canon of that film was an exciting yet daunting prospect.

It’s been some of the most fun I’ve had making comic books, and I know that fans of Frankenstein and horror will have a blast experiencing these characters and iconic scenes like never before.”

The inaugural issue of Universal Monsters: Frankenstein will witness Dr. Henry Frankenstein embarking on his unholy quest to create life by plundering the grave of a decorated police officer in search of necessary parts, specifically a strong pair of hands. Little does he know, the corpse has a mourning son who will forever alter Frankenstein’s life.

This collaboration between Skybound and Universal marks yet another milestone in their longstanding relationship, which has recently transcended into comic book publishing.

Universal Monsters: Frankenstein is the third Universal Monsters series launch, following Dracula from creators James Tynion IV and Martin Simmonds and Creature From The Black Lagoon Lives! by Dan Watters and Ram V.

The saga of Frankenstein will be followed by more new limited series that pair renowned comic book creators with pop culture’s most iconic monsters. There are still many popular Universal Monsters left to explore with The Wolf Man, The Mummy, The Invisible Man, Bride of Frankenstein, and many more.

Nothing is stopping Skybound from going a step further and making an attempt to cross these series into one another. The line of Universal Monster series has limitless potential and so far the pairings of creators have been SCARY good.
