Uncanny Valley Blends Reality and Cartoons in New BOOM! Studios Series
Get ready for a wild ride of cartoon mayhem, family drama, and deadly secrets in Uncanny Valley, the new series from BOOM! Studios. Written by fan-favorite writer Tony Fleecs (Stray Dogs) and illustrated by acclaimed artist Dave Wachter (Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles), this series is set to bring readers a unique blend of cartoons and reality.

At the center of the tale is Oliver, a seemingly typical 12-year-old boy with a mysterious family history that appears to revolve solely around his mother. But there’s more to Oliver than meets the eye – he possesses unexplainable powers, leading him into unexpected trouble. As he grapples with the surreal nature of his abilities and finds himself trailed by a murder of peculiar crows, Oliver embarks on a quest to unravel the long-concealed secrets of his family.
Uncanny Valley #1 boasts covers by Wachter, Fleecs, Brett Bean (I Hate Fairyland), and Dan Mora (Klaus).
Writer Tony Fleecs expressed his enthusiasm for the project, describing Uncanny Valley as a “big huge story set in two giant worlds with all sorts of magic and mystery.” The collaborative process has been particularly rewarding for him, as the narrative centers on a “little tiny family,” a storytelling approach he favors.

Illustrator Dave Wachter shared his excitement, acknowledging the satisfaction of bringing this long-cherished idea to life alongside BOOM! Studios, known for its exceptional publications. With UNCANNY VALLEY, Wachter ventures into new creative territory while thoroughly enjoying the process.
Describing the series as “Who Framed Roger Rabbit by way of Something Epic,” series editor Jon Moisan emphasized its heart, humor, and cartoonish action, making it an irresistible addition to readers’ collections.

Uncanny Valley #1 is set to hit your favorite local comic shops on April 10th, 2024.
