Twilight TV Series is in the Works from Lionsgate

Stephanie Meyer‘s novel series turned film adaptation that created an entire fandom in the early 2000s is making a comeback as a Twilight TV series is in the works from Lionsgate. The Hollywood Reporter announced that the long-standing universe is set to be adapted once more with the planned TV series which is still in early development. Meyer is also in talks to return for the project likely in a producer role. Also attached to the upcoming series are Wyck Godfrey and Erik Feig who will executive produce.

Whether you are from the 2000s era or after, Twilight is still a big topic amongst fans, and the films that were first released in 2005 which were adapted from Meyer’s book series followed Bella Swan who would later be played by Kristen Stewart in the film adaptation as she is brought into the whirlwind world of wolves and vampires when she relocates to Forks, Washington and quickly falls for the mysterious Edward Cullen who would be played by Robert Pattinson in the films. As she becomes entangled in the world of vampires and werewolves, the film adaptations went on to become fan favorites as the events of the novels played out on the big screen.

After the films released with New Moon, Eclipse, and Breaking Dawn parts 1 & 2. Meyer would later release a few more novels set in the world of Twilight with a novel from the perspective of Edward Cullen titled Midnight Sun and also a short novel titled The Short Second Life of Bree Tanner, and a gender-swapped version of Twilight titled Life & Death.

This is not the only long-standing book series that launched a successful and influential film franchise that will be getting a TV series adaptation as it was also recently announced that Harry Potter would be getting a seven-season run which will adapt the book series by J.K. Rowling. Each season will adapt a book in the series with Rowling on board as executive producer.

With the Twilight series still in its early stages. It may be some time before we get more information but the casting of these characters will certainly be an interesting time and will either win the fandom over or cause some division. Interesting times are ahead so stay tuned.
