Kevin Smith‘s body horror film Tusk may have a sequel in the works. The 2014 horror-comedy marked one of Smith’s most delightfully disturbing films that have had fans talking for years. The talks of Tusk 2 have been touch and go but during an interview with Slash Film, Tusk‘s star Justin Long shared that Smith is serious about returning to the bizarre world of the film for a sequel.

During the interview, Long shared that Smith had reached out to the original cast to notify them of the sequel, saying:
“You’ll be happy to hear, Kevin just announ– I mean, I guess they’re talking about it. They’re doing Tusk 2, I think. He texted us all the other day, Haley and Genesis, and he told us that he wanted to do it, and I thought it was a joke. And then I realized he was being serious. And then one of the [other] interviewers said, ‘Yeah, he said the same to me.'”
Tusk‘s synopsis reads:
” A U.S. podcaster ventures into the Canadian wilderness to interview an old man who has an extraordinary past, and the American learns the man has a dark secret involving a walrus.”
The film starred Long alongside Michael Parks, Haley Joel Osment, Genesis Rodriguez, and Johnny Depp. The film was written and directed by Smith. Previously, Smith had played around with an idea of a Tusk sequel in which he revealed he had a story for Tusk 2, saying:
“There’s a version of Tusk 2 that you do where… you cut to the present, and somebody else gets sucked into the spider’s web. The house, you hear stories, and when you get to the house, the new Howard Howe is Wallace, who has gotten out of the walrus trappings and stuff and is obviously disturbed by his entire ordeal and is now doing it to others. So there’s a way to do Tusk 2 where Justin becomes Michael Parks’s character. Wallace becomes, sort of, the new Howard Howe. So yea, that’s possible. Tusk 2 is possible.”

We may not get confirmation on this right away as Smith is currently working on getting the word out on the highly-anticipated Clerks III, but stay tuned as more information is revealed on a possible sequel.
