The Wolf Among Us 2 Will Welcome New Players

Telltale Games returned a few years ago and has since revealed that it is developing The Wolf Among Us 2. The studio has given us a trailer and a release window for the highly-anticipated sequel.

Many have played the first entry, The Wolf Among Us. We see the familiarity of what is to come in the upcoming sequel as well as the studio’s steps towards a fresh experience. We know that we will take the role of Bigby Wolf once again and got a glimpse of Snow White, both characters from the award-winning graphic novel series Fables that brings fairy tale characters to life living in modern times in Fabletown.

Players who have not played the previous game or enjoyed the graphic novel might feel a bit lost or as they may not be able to enjoy The Wolf Among Us 2, but during an interview with Edge Magazine, Telltale CEO Jamie Ottilie talked about how they will bring new players up to speed in episode one, saying:

“We strive to design our narratives so they can stand on their own.”

Ottilie did note that he hopes players will visit or revisit The Wolf Among Us before jumping into the sequel, but even if you choose not to, Ottilie said:

“We think the opening of the first episode sets things up in such a way that the player understands how the characters got where they are now.”

The Wolf Among Us is one of Telltale‘s shining entries and definitely deserves a visit or revisit for those players who have experienced it before, but it is admirable to see the studio taking steps to connect the dots for players that are looking to jump into the next entry and bringing them up to speed.

The Wolf Among Us 2 will release sometime in 2023 on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC.
