AMC has released The Walking Dead: Dead City trailer which takes fans into the expanded The Walking Dead universe and right into a walker-infested Manhattan where there are walkers in bunches and even more threats on the streets and under the city. With more than the rumored crocodiles lurking under the streets of New York City, the unlikely team-up of Negan (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) and Maggie (Lauren Cohan) has been revealed.

One of the biggest questions on our minds was how in the world Maggie and Negan would ever end up working together and the trailer explains just that as Maggie’s son is taken hostage after they are raided and Negan’s connection to the person behind it all leads her to reluctantly request his help.

This is how we end up on the zombie-riddled Manhattan Island. As has been the case for most of The Walking Dead, the living is always the real danger and with Negan’s past tied directly to the fate of Maggie’s family. This may be the redemption he seeks and although Maggie has made it clear, forgiveness is not something she will be able to ever offer him, he can work towards righting his wrongs.

The full series synopsis reads:

The Walking Dead: Dead City follows the popular Maggie (Cohan) and Negan (Morgan) characters traveling into a post-apocalyptic Manhattan, long ago cut off from the mainland. Starring alongside Morgan and Cohan will be Karina Ortiz, Jonathan Higginbotham, Michael Anthony, Pallavi Sastry, Randy Gonzalez, Gaius Charles, Logan Kim, Mahina Napoleon, and David Chen. The series was written by Eli Jorne, Brenna Bouf, and Keith Staskiewicz with Scott M. Gimple, Brian Bockrath, Loren Yaconelli, Cohan, and Jorne executive producing.
