Freaky Friday 2 Is In the Works with Jamie Lee Curtis and Lindsay Lohan Returning
Disney is reportedly working on Freaky Friday 2 with Jamie Lee Curtisand Lindsay Lohan set to return for the long-awaited sequel that saw mother and daughter swap places. THR reported that Disney is working on the sequel for the 2003 film that is based on the 1972 novel by Mary Rodgers. The mother-daughter duo will return once again and likely see a mysterious body swap of some kind, whether the fortune cookie swap happens to Lohan and Curtis once again, or we see the mysterious generational swap come to the next generation in the family, who knows! We just know there is more Freaky Friday coming and we are here for it.
In the 2003 film, the fortune cookie swap introduced the two characters played by Lohan and Curtis to 24 hours in the shoes of each other as they spend time learning about one another and the struggles of each other’s lives, and their generational gap by opening their eyes to the world in their perspective. It was a film that touched on the different challenges one deals with at certain ages and how one might not quite understand those daily struggles unless one lives through them even for a day.
The film also touched on the family dynamic in a unique way by mending the fractures in the relationship between Anna and Tess through a fun, feel-good film that brought the two closer together while pulling them apart through the use of unexplainable magic. This has garnered the film a loyal following that even 20 years later is ecstatic to see a sequel being announced.
While we await for more news on the highly-anticipated sequel, you can relive the magic of Freaky Friday on Disney+ or other VOD platforms.
