The Sandman Renewed for Season 2 on Netflix
Netflix has announced that the critically acclaimed series The Sandman has been renewed for season 2 on the streaming platform. The series was adapted from one of the most influential pieces of literature of our time as it brought to life the comic book series by Neil Gaiman. The series premiered in August to the fan’s applause for the near-perfect adaptation. Even with the fan and critic appreciation, the series had not been given the green light for a second season but the streamer has now confirmed that we will return to the dream world once again.
Netflix‘s description of season one reads:
“When the Sandman, aka Dream, the powerful cosmic being who controls all our dreams — is unexpectedly captured and held prisoner for over a century, he must journey across different worlds and timelines to fix the chaos his absence has caused.”
Deadline reported the renewal and it was a pleasant thing to hear for many fans who had feared the streamer might not move forward with another season. At one point, it was said that production costs could be a reason the series would not move forward but the streamer has been pulling the plug on other series with Fate: The Winx Saga being the most recent, fans of The Sandman will not have to worry of this fate falling upon Dream (Tom Sturridge) as the renewal has been confirmed.
Starring in the series alongside Sturridge is Kyo Ra/Vanesu Samunyai as Rose Walker, Vivienne Acheampong as Lucienne, Boyd Holbrook as the Corinthian, and Patton Oswalt as Matthew the Raven. Other notable cast members included Jenna Coleman as Johanna Constantine, Gwendoline Christie as Lucifer Morningstar, David Thewlis as John Dee, Kirby Howell-Baptiste as Death, and Mason Alexander Park as Desire.
If you have yet to experience this critical hit, I implore you to check it out as it brought to life a literary masterpiece and adapted the comic book series impeccably. The streamer also treated fans to a two-part bonus episode after the series was released that featured two stories, A Dream of a Thousand Cats and Calliope. The bonus episode provided fans with the mention of a character that proved to be exciting news for many but we will let you experience that on your own when you check out the series.

The Sandman Season 2 does not currently have a release date but will stream exclusively on Netflix.
