The Penguin Teaser Trailer Takes Us Back to the Criminal Underground of Gotham City
The Penguin has released a teaser trailer, offering a glimpse into the upcoming Max series and the next chapter in Matt Reeves’ The Batman saga which features one of the standout characters from the latest film featuring the Caped Crusader.
In the trailer, Colin Farrell‘s Oz Cobb is seen deeply engrossed in conversation as he reflects on a former crime boss whom he aspires to emulate. This series follows Farrell’s debut as the iconic Gotham gangster in Matt Reeves’ The Batman movie.

The Penguin is set to debut this fall as an eight-episode DC Studios series featuring an ensemble cast including Farrell, Cristin Milioti, Rhenzy Feliz, Michael Kelly, Shohreh Aghdashloo, Deirdre O’Connell, Clancy Brown, and Michael Zegen.
Executive produced by Matt Reeves, Dylan Clark, Farrell, and showrunner Lauren LeFranc, the series sets out to provide a street-level perspective of Gotham City and its underworld, following the aftermath of The Batman.
The story revolves around Oz’s ambition to seize power in the aftermath of Carmine Falcone’s demise, showcasing the challenges he must navigate to establish his dominance in the criminal realm.

In addition to The Penguin series, the sequel to Robert Pattinson‘s The Batman movie is slated for release on October 2, 2026, following a one-year delay. This sequel forms part of Reeves’ “crime saga” trilogy, which also encompasses The Penguin TV series.
Although separate from the DCU, this film is described by James Gunn as a significant investment for Warner Bros. This could very well lead to an even larger expansion of Reeves’ vision for Pattinson’s The Batman and the many characters within the universe.
The Penguin will arrive exclusively on Max later this year. Check out the trailer below:
