The One Piece: Netflix Announces One Piece Anime Reboot
Netflix recently announced a collaboration with WIT Studio to create a new animated adaptation of the popular manga and anime series, One Piece. The new anime adaptation will be titled The One Piece and is set to re-adapt the manga’s story, starting with the East Blue arc.
This might be fantastic news for fans who were introduced to the franchise through the live-action series recently released by the streamer and want to experience the anime version of the manga but were deterred by its overwhelming library of episodes.

For long-time followers of the original anime, this new adaptation could offer a fresh take on Eiichirō Oda‘s work, with potentially more striking art style and exploration of new ideas. It’s worth noting that both the live-action series and the new anime will run concurrently.
If you are unfamiliar with the open-sea tale of One Piece, the series focuses on Monkey D. Luffy—a young man made of rubber after unintentionally eating a Devil Fruit—who sets off on a journey from the East Blue Sea to find the deceased King of the Pirates Gol D. Roger’s ultimate treasure known as the “One Piece”, and take over his prior title.

WIT Studio is known for their work on Attack on Titan and Spy x Family, and the One Piece production committee consisting of Shueisha, Fuji Television Network, and Toei Animation Co. Although a release date has not yet been revealed, a teaser poster and announcement video have been shared, giving fans a glimpse of what’s to come.
Let’s hope that this new project will include the iconic Gum Gum fruit and bring the world of One Piece to life in an extraordinary new way that also feels like home for longtime fans. Check out the teaser trailer below:
