The Mean One Trailer Reveals A Gory Take on ‘The Grinch’

A trailer for an upcoming seasonal horror film titled The Mean One has emerged. Inspired by ‘The Grinch‘ the parody-horror film looks to focus less on the furry green Christmas-hating character’s heart being 3 sizes too small and instead will deliver a slasher holiday film that will see his kill count grow three sizes bigger with a twisted take on the holiday story.

The film’s synopsis reads:

“In a sleepy mountain town, Cindy has her parents murdered and her Christmas stolen by a blood thirsty green figure in a red Santa suit – The Mean One. But when the ravenous, Christmas-hating creature begins to terrorize the town and threatens to ruin the holiday, she finds a new purpose – trapping and killing the monster.”

The film stars Terrifier 2‘s David Howard Thornton as ‘The Mean One’ and he will be joined by co-stars Krystle Martin, Chase Mullins, Amy Schumacher, John Bigham, and Eric Baker. The film was helmed by Steve LaMorte from a script by Finn and Flip Kobler. The film was produced by Schumacher, LaMorte, and Martine Melloul with Jordan Rosner, Gato Scatena, and Zach Stampone executive producing.

The holidays are more than gift-giving and spending time with family as the seasonal genre can be a time for films such as ‘The Mean One’ and other contenders to flourish. We have ‘Violent Night‘ also making its way to us which will give us a more action-packed type of holiday film but with holiday horror classics such as ‘Krampus,’ ‘Black Christmas,’ ‘Silent Night,’ and many more, this film looks to add to the list of holiday favorites for those of us who enjoy something a bit different than ‘A Christmas Story.’

‘The Mean One’ also delivers on two fronts with a parody film of a classic children’s story and film. Something we will also be getting when ‘Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey‘ makes its way to us which has also been a more than intriguing twist on the horror genre by taking these innocent characters and turning them into nightmare fuel.

The Mean One will slash its way to a theater near you on December 9, 2022.
