Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey Headed to Theatrical Release in February 2023, Sequel ‘Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare’ In the Works
Jagged Edge Productions has announced their upcoming horror film Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey is headed for a theatrical release in the U.S. The film is a horror reimagining of the classic children’s story created by Alan Alexander Milne. The Hollywood Reporter dropped the news of the film getting a one-day theatrical release from Fathom Events. A theatrical release is also headed to the United Kingdom, Mexico, and Canada via Altitude, Cinemax, and Cineplex.
This version of the film will see a monstrous re-imagining of Pooh and Piglet who are abandoned by Christopher Robin which leads them on a murderous rampage.
The indie horror film is set to be the directorial debut of Rhys Frake-Waterfield who also penned the script. The film stars Craig David Dowsett, and Chris Cordell who will portray the villainous versions of Winnie the Pooh and Piglet with Amber Doig-Thorne, Maria Taylor, and Danielle Scott also starring. A sequel to Blood and Honey is currently already in the works as well which will adapt another children’s story into another horrifying nightmare with the film titled Peter Pan: Neverland Nightmare.
Waterfield gave a brief synopsis of the film, read it below:
“Christopher Robin is pulled away from them, and he’s not [given] them food, it’s made Pooh and Piglet’s life quite difficult… Because they’ve had to fend for themselves so much, they’ve essentially become feral. So they’ve gone back to their animal roots. They’re no longer tame: they’re like a vicious bear and pig who want to go around and try and find prey.”
Winnie the Pooh: Blood and Honey will get its one-day theatrical release on February 15, 2023.
