Star Wars: Yoda: Marvel Announces New Comic Series Exploring the History of the Jedi Master

Marvel Comics has announced a new series that will chronicle the history of one of the most influential Jedi Masters in Star Wars lore. Star Wars: Yoda will bring a brand-new look to Master Yoda in a ten-issue limited series that will follow Yoda during his exile on Dagobah as he reflects on his past. The series will span centuries and will be divided into three arcs with three creative teams that include Cavan Scott, Nico Leon, Jody Houser, Marc Guggenheim, Luke Ross, and Alessandro Miracolo telling the story of the Jedi Master’s key moments in his legendary past.

Scott and Leon will start things off with a story set during the Star Wars: The High Republic era. Houser/Guggenheim will team with Ross/Miracolo to journey to a time set before the Prequel Trilogy near the end of the Clone Wars. Scott and Leon will complete the saga with a final issue in the limited series. The series will touch on aspects of Yoda’s life never before seen and will bring to light some mysteries revolving around the character.

Scott spoke to StarWars.com and noted how lucky he has been to have written Yoda in previous projects, saying:

“I’ve been lucky to write Yoda in various projects over the last few years, most notably in Dooku: Jedi Lost, and every time I write him my love for him deepens. It’s fair to say that my study at home is a shrine for three Star Wars icons: there are a lot of Obi-Wan figures; many, many, many, MANY pieces of Ewok merchandise (do I love those murder bears more than the Lepi?

Don’t tell Jaxxon, but there’s every chance!); and then there is Yoda. The little guy is everywhere, in models, in art, and in lots of LEGO. Yoda casts a long shadow over anything he appears in, and writing him is a privilege and a responsibility I take seriously.”

Editor Mark Paniccia added:

“I’ve been wanting to do a Yoda book since I started working on the STAR WARS titles. Yoda is a very special character to me as he is to everyone working on this series. We all have our hearts and souls in this and I hope the fans enjoy it as much as we have putting it together. It’s really unique and I’m very proud of it.”

Star Wars: Yoda #1 will arrive at your favorite local comic shop and digitally in October. Check out the cover reveal from artist Phil Noto below:
