Spirited Trailer Shows Us A New Take on ‘A Christmas Carol’
Apple TV+ has revealed a teaser trailer for the highly-anticipated holiday musical film Spirited. The film stars Ryan Reynolds, Will Ferrell, and Octavia Spencer in a film that takes the classic Charles Dickens story A Christmas Carol into a modernized tale with its own unique twist. The film will see a theatrical release and then make its way to Apple TV+.
Ferell will play the ghost of Christmas present as he looks to mend a dark soul on Christmas Eve. This brings him to Clint Briggs who turns his yearly task on its head by making him reexamine his yearly routing and look back on his own past.
The synopsis for Spirited reads:
“Each Christmas Eve, the Ghost of Christmas Present (Will Ferrell) selects one dark soul to be reformed by a visit from three spirits. But this season, he picked the wrong Scrooge. Clint Briggs (Ryan Reynolds) turns the tables on his ghostly host until Present finds himself reexamining his own past, present and future. For the first time, ‘A Christmas Carol’ is told from the perspective of the ghosts in this hilarious musical twist on the classic Dickens tale.”
Joining Reynolds, Ferell, and Spencer will be Sunita Mani, Patrick Page, Marlow Barkley, Joe Tippett, and Jen Tullock. The film will comprise of brand-new original music from Oscar winners Justin Paul and Benj Pasek with choreography by Chloe Arnold. The film is helmed by Sean Anders from a screenplay co-written by Anders and John Morris. The film was produced by David Koplan, Jessica Elbaum, Diana Pokorny, and George Dewey.
Spirited will premiere in theaters on November 11th with a premiere on Apple TV+ on November 18th.
