Spirit Halloween: The Movie Trailer Brings the Pop-Up Store to Life in New Horror Film
Strike Back Studios has just released a trailer for the upcoming horror film based on the pop-up store chain Spirit Halloween. The upcoming film is officially titled Spirit Halloween: The Movie and will star Christopher Lloyd and Rachael Leigh Cook.
The film’s official synopsis reads:
“When a new Spirit Halloween store appears in a deserted strip mall, three middle-school friends who think they’ve outgrown trick-or-treating make a dare to spend the night locked inside the store Halloween night. But they soon find out that the store is haunted by an angry evil spirit who has possessed the creepy animatronic characters. The kids embark on a thrilling and spooky adventure in order to survive the night and avoid becoming possessed themselves.”
Spirit Halloween has teamed up with Strike Back Studios, Hideout Pictures, and Particular Crowd to bring the project to life. Starring alongside Lloyd and Cook will be Donovan Colan, Marissa Reyes, Jaiden J. Smith, Marla Gibbs, Brad Carter, and Dylan Martin Frankel. The film is directed by David Poag from a script written by Billie Bates.
Noor Ahmed, president of Strike Back Studios, told Variety:
“One of the reasons I immediately connected with the script is it is very much inspired by some of my favorite kid adventure films growing up, from ‘The Goonies,’ ‘Gremlins,’ ‘Monster Squad’ and so many great films made by Amblin Entertainment.”
Ahmed will produce the film with Shannon Houchinswhile Tomás’ Yanelevich, Peter Bevan, Mariana Sanjurjo, and Clay Epstein are executive producing. The film looks to inject some family-adventure horror into the October lineup of films coming this year and the concept and talent in the film is enough to lure fans in much like the famous pop-up stores have managed to do so for years.
Spirit Halloween: The Movie will be available on demand on October 11th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
