Spike Returns in New Buffy the Vampire Slayer Audible Series
Great news for Buffy the Vampire Slayer fans! James Marsters is reprising his role as Spike in a new Audible series called Slayers: A Buffyverse Story. Joining Marsters is a star-studded cast including Emma Caulfield, Anthony Head, Juliet Landau, Charisma Carpenter, Amber Benson, James Charles Leary, and Danny Strong. The Audible series is co-written and co-directed by Amber Benson and Christopher Golden.
Slayers: A Buffyverse Story takes place 20 years after the events of the final episode of Buffy the Vampire Slayer. Spike, now posing as the bloodthirsty vampire we first met in Season 2, finds himself in Los Angeles undercover. However, his facade is quickly exposed by 16-year-old Indira Nunnally, played by Laya DeLeon Hayes. Indira’s callout puts Spike back on duty as a protector of slayers.
As Spike navigates his new role, he comes across Cordelia Chase, portrayed by Carpenter. But wait, this Cordelia is from a parallel reality where Buffy Summers never existed, and Cordelia herself became the Slayer. Cordelia seeks Spike’s help in dealing with her centuries-long ex, Drusilla, played by Landau.
Marsters expressed his excitement about returning to the Buffyverse and embarking on this new audio journey. With horror, passion, and mischief in store, old and new fans alike are in for a treat.
Carpenter’s appearance as the Slayer is a full circle moment for the actress as she initially auditioned for the show’s titular role of Buffy. While the roles of other characters haven’t been mentioned, we hope the rest of the cast will be reprising their original parts as well. This means the possibility of Anthony Head as Giles, Emma Caulfield as Anya, Benson as Tara, James Charles Leary as Clem, and Danny Strong as Jonathan all returning.
