Shudder’s Creepshow Being Adapted into Video Game
Shudder‘s Creepshow is set to be adapted into a video game. The horror anthology series by Greg Nicotero will come to life as part of a collaboration between DreadXP and DarkStone Digital. The series based on George A. Romero‘s film has found much success as an exclusive series on the horror-focused streaming service. The popularity of the series has also led to an anthology format comic book limited series from Skybound Entertainment which now looks to adapt the anthology format in a video game that will tell multiple horror stories while adapting different gameplay styles and tones.
developer Brian Clarke shared their excitement, saying:
“I’m extremely excited to be a part of such a fun project. I’ve always loved Creepshow’s format, and the idea of driving the cohesion of multiple perspectives on horror is really compelling to me. I feel honored to have been asked to be a part of this. I can’t wait to jump in and bring the best I can to such a great IP.”
DreadXP producer Ted Hentschke added:
“The game will represent an expansion of our tremendously successful collaboration with Brian Clarke, whose expertise in crafting lore-rich narratives and clever scares makes him the perfect creative director for the project.”
Lastly, Nicotero also chimed in expressing the perfect timing to expand the series universe with the series and comic book series putting Creepshow in the spotlight, saying:
“Hot on the heels of the Skybound Comic release this summer and wrapping post-production on Season 4, I feel like this is an opportunity to celebrate the genre with horror fans around the world in a way that takes us through a myriad of experiences.”
One might be wondering what a Creepshow video game might look like with self-contained stories. A reasonable thought is that it will likely adopt the episodic format found in Telltale Games’ popular video game series such as The Walking Dead, Tales from the Borderlands, and The Wolf Among Us.
The Creepshow video game is looking to be released on multiple platforms sometime in 2024.
