Zdarsky’s acclaimed run of Daredevil will end with Daredevil #14 this August which will then lead straight into Ahmed and Kuder’s run in September. The podcast featured both Ahmed and Zdarsky as they spoke about Zdarsky’s multi-year run and what awaits Matt Murdock when Ahmed and Kuder jump into Hell’s Kitchen this September. Excitement and some questions are raised as the publisher shares:

Ahmed and Kuder are ready to take Matt Murdock on a knockout of an adventure! Where does Elektra fit into all of this? What is the future of Hell’s Kitchen? Romance! Intrigue! And of course ACTION! All delivered in the Mighty Marvel Manner!

Ahmed shares that he has a unique take on Matt and Hell’s Kitchen, saying:

“I wanted to only take this job on if I felt like I had a new, unique take on Matt and on Hell’s Kitchen. And so that’s at the center of this… him and his world, but it’s the Marvel Universe. What I’ve really enjoyed in talking with other editors, other offices, is finding ways through these first couple of arcs we have planned to keep this centered on Matt, keep this centered on his people, in his world, but to bring (in a very organic and surprising fun way) some familiar Marvel figures that I think are going to blow people’s mind when they pop up on the page!”

As Zdarsky sets to depart Daredevil, he shares what he will miss the most, saying:

“Working with Marco, honestly, and Matt Wilson on colors. It was such a joy having those pages come in almost every day. It feels like the right time to leave. You know, when you finish the story, it’s kind of when you should get off the stage. But it’s my longest run on anything in comics, and it will probably end up being my longest running anything in comics because of the kind of character that you just want to hold onto for as long as you can.”

Zdarsky is currently working on DC Comic‘s Batman ongoing series with plans for him to pen the series through 2025. He leaves behind a momentous and legendary mark on Daredevil’s history in the Marvel Comics line. What Zdarsky and Checchetto were able to accomplish for Daredevil will be a source that will be tapped by many creators who go on to touch the character in many mediums.

Now, he looks to build yet another epic run with the Dark Knight following James Tynion IV‘s tenure on the Batman ongoing series. Zdarsky is definitely up to the challenge and just as Tynion IV elevated DC’s iconic character following Tom King‘s run, Zdarsky is surely to do the same once again.

On the other side of the big two, Daredevil‘s first issue will feature a cover by John Romita Jr. with Scott Hanna and Marcio Menyz. If the cover serves as any placement to build anticipation and excitement then congratulation Marvel, you nailed it.

Daredevil #1 will be available at your local comic shop and digitally this September.
