Growing up, one of the many cartoons that I remember absolutely loving was Thundercats! Although I caught most of it during the tail end of its original run, and in reruns in the early ’90s, this space fantasy show that had a similar feel to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles had this tiny Viking Wizard reeled in hook, line, and sinker! So when I saw the series Battlecats from Mad Cave Studios, I signed up right away to read this book!
Let me give you the premise:
Follow Kelthan, Vaela, Zorien, Kaleera, and Mekkar as they undertake a perilous quest through different regions in pursuit of The Dire Beast while unearthing dark secrets, and even darker enemies. But first, Kelthan and the Battlecats must journey through the Dark Forest facing an unexpected enemy from their past.
This book was great! Mark London did an incredible job of building up this deeply intriguing world with a very medieval feel that I really enjoyed! Seeing the setup of the very first king and the ones that came after him, the deal that was struck with the gods for the Mark of the Fang, and the creation and rise to power of the Battlecats was very well done, and I’m excited to see where the journey continues in the future!
