Raven’s Hollow Trailer Focuses On the Mysterious Life of Edgar Allan Poe
Shudder has released a trailer for the upcoming film that will enter the life of one of the most famed horror writers of all time. Edgar Allan Poe is known for his poem The Raven as well as his short stories The Tell-Tale Heart, The Pit and the Pendulum, The Cask of Amontillado, and The Masque of the Red Death.
The true mystery in Poe lies within his own personal life as many fans and historians have tried to unravel the accounts of his life and his death which has led to the birth of many conspiracy theories.
The new film looks to take viewers to a point of Poe’s life yet to be touched on in prior works or adaptations as Raven’s Hollow will follow Poe during his time as a cadet at West Point in upstate New York. Set during 1830, as Poe and his fellow cadets find a man hanging on a rack, he whispers one final word in his dying breath, “raven”.
This leads Poe and the other cadets to the community of Raven’s Hollow where the film looks to enter a very haunting and dark place full of secrets.
Shudder‘s description of Raven’s Hollow reads:
“West Point cadet Edgar Allan Poe and four other cadets on a training exercise in upstate New York are drawn by a gruesome discovery into a forgotten community where they find a township guarding a frightening secret.”
The film stars William Moseley, Melanie Zanetti, Kate Dickie, David Hayman, Oberon K.A. Adjepong, and Callum Woodhouse. The film was helmed by Christopher Hatton from a script written by Hatton and Chuck Reeves. Caroline Stern produces alongside Andrejs Ekis, Todd Lundbohm, and Mark Andrews.
Previous adaptations of Poe have led to possibly the most famous film adaptation of his life in The Raven which saw John Cusack take on the role of Poe as a killer begins to murder townsfolk in Boston inspired by his gory short stories. The film also starred Luke Evans, Alice Eve, Brendan Gleeson, and Oliver Jackson-Cohen.
Raven’s Hollow will premiere at UK’s Frightfest on August 27th, 2022, and will stream on Shudder on September 22nd, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
