Marvel’s Midnight Suns Has Been Delayed Indefinitely

Firaxis has announced that its upcoming Marvel strategy game, Marvel’s Midnight Suns will not be able to meet its previous release window. Marvel’s Midnight Suns previously suffered a short delay but still looked to release in 2022. Shortly after, the devs released a new trailer highlighting some of the action coming to the strategy game.

A new update on the game’s social media account revealed a new update that now pushes the game out into possibly 2023. current-gen consoles may still see the game in 2022 but given the constant setbacks, a safer expectation would be to see the game arrive in 2023.

The studio’s team released a statement, saying:

“We have an important update to share regarding our launch date for Marvel’s Midnight Suns. After discussion with the team, we’ve made the decision to move back the launch timing of Marvel’s Midnight Suns to ensure we are delivering the best possible experience for our fans.

We will launch later this fiscal year on Windows PC, Xbox Series X/S, and PlayStation 5, with the Xbox One, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo Switch versions following at a later date.

We know fans are looking forward to playing Marvel’s Midnight Suns and we will use this extra time to make sure we are delivering the best possible experience for everyone. Marvel’s Midnight Suns is easily the biggest game we’ve ever made and we’re incredibly appreciative of all the support players have shared with us throughout the years.”

Midnight Suns is a Marvel-themed strategy game that blended turn-based combat like what you would see from XCOM and integrated deck-building gameplay. The upcoming game is set to be a reimagining of the popular Rise of the Midnight Sons comic book event that has also seen new life in a new comic event coming soon.

The game will be based on the Midnight Sons arc and team. Players will control The Hunter, who is an original hero created by Marvel and Firaxis, who leads a team consisting of Doctor Strange, Blade, Captain America, Wolverine, Magik, and others against the evil Lilith. 

Marvel’s Midnight Suns will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Switch, and PC with a release date to be announced in the future.
