Rainbow Six Siege Finally Getting Cross-Play and Cross-Progression on Consoles
Ubisoft‘s popular competitive first-person shooter, Rainbow Six Siege is finally getting cross-play and cross-progression on consoles next month. The long-needed feature has kept many players on different platforms from being able to sync up but that all changes in just a couple of weeks as the upcoming season Operation Solar Raid will not only introduce players to a new map, operator, and more but also will bring the new feature as reported by Eurogamer.
The report states that players on PlayStation and Xbox will automatically matchmake together after the update which should cut down on matchmaking times as they will no longer be platform-specific. If you don’t want to partake in the new feature, that is perfectly fine as Ubisoft will allow the setting to be turned off if the players choose to. PC players and Luna players will still be kept apart from the new matchmaking queues and do not currently have plans to integrate them into lobbies with PlayStation or Xbox.
After the update, players should have the option of inviting their friends through Ubisoft Connect‘s overlay or through the console itself and will have chat implementation across platforms within the same guidelines as all players do in-game. For cross-progression, your ranking history will now be shareable between platforms if you are signed in to the same Ubisoft Connect account but if you play on a console and PC, keep in mind that progression will not transfer over. Lastly, all Credits, Renown, packs, operators, boosters, and cosmetics will be pooled among your different consoles as well as getting timed out for a penalty.
This and more will be available when Rainbow Six Siege‘s Operation Solar Raid launches on December 6, 2022.
