Prison Break Series Revival Coming to Hulu from Mayans M.C. Co-Creator Elgin James

Prison Break fans will be excited to hear that the series is set to make a surprising return to the small screen. After ending its run in 2017, the hit FOX show is getting revived under the guidance of Mayans M.C. co-creator and showrunner Elgin James. Although the new series will be set in the world of Prison Break, it’s unlikely to center around the lead siblings Michael Scofield (Wentworth Miller) and Lincoln Burrows (Dominic Purcell). That being said since it will take place in the same world as the series, we are likely to see some returning characters.

This revival has been in consideration for years, along with the potential return of the show 24, which is considered a sort of sister series to Prison Break. Although it’s still in the early stages of development, James will be writing episodes, and the original creator of Prison Break, Paul T. Scheuring, will also be involved as a producer. James just recently ended his run on Mayans M.C. after a shocking series finale of the Sons of Anarchy spinoff series.

Prison Break initially captivated viewers with its story of a wrongly convicted man facing the death penalty for allegedly killing a senator. His highly intelligent brother purposely gets arrested so that they can devise a plan to break out and escape their unjust punishment.

The series gained popularity thanks to the stellar cast that was led by Miller and Purcel and for the unpredictable nature of its storyline. Despite its title, the prison break happens early on in the first season. After four seasons, the show returned for an additional run eight years later.

Starring alongside Miller and Purcell were Sarah Wayne Callies, Robert Knepper, Amaury Nolasco, Wade Williams, Paul Adelstein, William Fichtner, and more.

As of now, Hulu has not released further details about the new Prison Break series, including the cast members and expected release window. Stay tuned as more information is revealed on the return to the world of Prison Break.
