Power Rangers Star Jason David Frank Has Reportedly Passed Away Aged 49
Actor, mixed martial artist, and Power Rangers star Jason David Frank has passed away according to multiple reports online. Known for his iconic role as Tommy Oliver who was the Green Ranger/White Ranger during the 90s era of the Mighty Morphin’ Power Rangers has been an icon in the Power Rangers fandom for years. On top of his role and ongoing contributions to Power Rangers JDF was also an accomplished mixed martial artist who also was part of groundbreaking short films.
The Wrap and TMZ have both reported confirmation with JDF’s reps with TMZ sharing the statement, saying:
“Unfortunately, it is true. Please respect the privacy of his family and friends during this horrible time as we come to terms with the loss of such a wonderful human being. He loved his family, friends and fans very much. He will truly be missed.”
His portrayal of Tommy Lee spanned from the original series that aired from 1993-1996 and also reprised his role for the 1997 film Turbo: A Power Rangers Movie. This was a role that JDF visited many times over the years with the most recent being a cameo appearance in the 2017 Power Rangers reboot series. His devotion to the characters that many fans loved stuck with him over the years and he wore the title of one of the most renowned Power Rangers proudly with endless convention appearances and other ways he continuously found to connect with fans.
He also remained dedicated to martial arts throughout the years earning an Eighth Degree Black Belt in karate to which he continuously devoted time to continue his skills and training. Many fans and former co-stars have taken to social media to express the shock and sadness of the loss of JDF.
