New Thor: Love and Thunder Trailer Reveals Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher
Marvel Studios has released a new trailer for the highly-anticipated Thor: Love and Thunder that is set to take Marvel fans on an epic journey featuring Thor (Chris Hemsworth) and Jane (Natalie Portman). The trailer also gives us our first full look at Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale) as well as Zeus (Russell Crowe).
The MCU has no other films slated for release in theaters until the new Thor sequel premieres in July, and we can expect a god-worthy amount of hype between now and July, starting with the newest trailer showing an even deeper look at what Thor and Jane will face.
The new trailer kicks off with Korg (Taika Waititi) telling us the story of Thor and catching us up on his journey since we last saw him in Avengers: Endgame. Korg is then interrupted when we see Thor reaching for Mjolnir, only to have it slip from his fingertips and head towards the Mighty Thor herself, Jane Foster. They don’t have much time to linger over possible old feelings as they face a new threat with Gorr, the God Butcher determined to kill all gods.

“The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a quest for inner peace. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods. To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjölnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late.”
The film also stars Tessa Thompson, Jamie Alexander, Karen Gillan, Chris Pratt, Anthony Hopkins, Pom Klementieff, Sean Gunn, Dave Bautista, and Jeff Goldblum. Waititi will helm the film once again after his successful resurrection of the Thor films in the MCU with the previous entry, Thor: Ragnarok. Waititi is credited with reinvigorating one of the weaker franchises within the MCU and that energy seems to keep rolling through into Love and Thunder.
Thor: Love and Thunder will premiere on July 8th, 2022. Check out the new trailer and poster below:
