New The Flash Trailer Shows The Flash and Batman Speeding Into Action
DC Studios has fueled the excitement of DC fans worldwide with the release of the new The Flash trailer that shows The Flash and Batman speeding into action in the film that is set to reboot DCU canon and usher in the era of James Gunn and Peter Safran‘s multi-year plan laid out that kicks off with “Gods and Monsters“.
The new trailer features Ezra Miller‘s Barry Allen breaking the timeline in an attempt to go back in time and prevent his mother’s death. The story is inspired by the DC Comics limited series Flashpoint. The new trailer gives more insight into the repercussions of Barry’s actions and introduces us or should I say re-introduces us to a new Batman in Michael Keaton‘s Bruce Wayne as Keaton reprises his role as the Dark Knight and will clearly have a pivotal role in the fight against the re-emerging General Zod (Michael Shannon).
Barry also has a Kryptonian in his corner in Sasha Calle‘s Supergirl who will clearly be a heavy-hitter for Team Flash. Ben Affleck also reprises his role as an alternate universe Batman/Bruce Wayne. Something to note is the few scenes in the trailers that have been released that appear to feature a Batcycle very reminiscent of the one used by Christian Bale in the Dark Knight trilogy. Could we see yet another reprisal? We sure as hell hope so!
Check out the official synopsis below:
“Worlds collide in “The Flash” when Barry uses his superpowers to travel back in time in order to change the events of the past. But when his attempt to save his family inadvertently alters the future, Barry becomes trapped in a reality in which General Zod has returned, threatening annihilation, and there are no Super Heroes to turn to.
That is, unless Barry can coax a very different Batman out of retirement and rescue an imprisoned Kryptonian… albeit not the one he’s looking for. Ultimately, to save the world that he is in and return to the future that he knows, Barry’s only hope is to race for his life. But will making the ultimate sacrifice be enough to reset the universe?”
Much as the comics’ Flashpoint event restructured the comics universe, we will see the film restructure the DCU. Serving as a reboot, the film will essentially open the door for Gunn and Safran to begin their vision which includes 5 films and 5 TV series in their first slate for “Gods and Monsters”. The films include Superman: Legacy, Supergirl: Woman of Tomorrow, The Brave and the Bold, Swamp Thing, and The Authority. The TV series slate will include Creature Commandos, Paradise Lost, Booster Gold, Peacemaker season 2, and an Amanda Waller series.
The film also features Kiersey Clemons as Iris West, Maribel Verdú as Nora Allen, and Ron Livingston as Henry Allen who takes over the role from Billy Crudup who played Henry Allen in the Justice League film. Lastly, the film’s cast includes Saoirse-Monica Jackson and Rudy Mancuso in undisclosed roles. The film was directed by Andy Muschietti from a script written by Christina Hodson.

The Flash will speed into theaters on June 16, 2023.
