New Tales From The Borderlands Gameplay Trailer Highlights the Familiar Look and Feel of its Predecessor
2K Games has released a new gameplay overview trailer of the recently revealed New Tales From The Borderlands. Since being teased in April by 2K, fans had been eager to know when they would get the chance to experience one of Telltale‘s leading titles in their impressive lineup of narrative-driven titles that puts the choices and outcomes in the player’s hands. Officially revealed during Gamescom, the sequel to Tales From The Borderlands is set to be developed in-house by Gearbox Software. It will be more of a spiritual successor than a direct sequel to its predecessor.
The trailer gave us insight into the sequel’s protagonist as players will follow the adventure of a scientist named Anu and her brother Octavio along with Fran. Octavio looks to bring the street smarts while Fran is a local business owner and even with a new lineup of characters to follow, the one thing the gameplay overview showed fans is that the game will not stray from what made the first such a hit as it looks and feels as familiar as before.
The main character in the game is and always will be the player as each dialogue choice and decision made in the game will shape the story of these characters as the blog states that choices are at the heart of the game with the players holding the power to determine how this story unfolds. One big change coming is the removal of the “hints” that let players know of choices that carry long-term impacts. The developers chose to do this as they believe every choice matters and whether it be immediate or long-term, the choices players make will have ramifications on how events unfold.
Gearbox Software‘s development of New Tales of the Borderlands was done in-house by Gearbox Studio Québec and included many of the talents behind the Borderlands series who came together to create the narrative experience players will see in New Tales From The Borderlands. The development team at Gearbox partnered with key developers from Telltale that helped craft the original Tales From The Borderlands to make sure they created a narrative-driven experience unlike any other while honoring both the Borderlands franchise and its predecessor, Tales From The Borderlands.
New Tales From The Borderlands will be available on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series X/S, Xbox One, and PC on October 21st, 2022. Check out the gameplay overview and character trailer below:
