New Jurrasic World Film in the Works at Universal Pictures

Universal Pictures is set to release a new film in the Jurassic World franchise, marking the beginning of a ‘new Jurassic era.’ The franchise, originally comprised of the Jurassic Park trilogy released between 1993 and 2001, followed a group of experts who are among a select group chosen to tour an island theme park populated by dinosaurs created from prehistoric DNA.

The franchise experienced a revival with the Chris Pratt-led Jurassic World in 2015, followed by two sequels: Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom in 2018 and Jurassic World: Dominion in 2022. Starring alongside Pratt was Bryce Dallas Howard, along with the return of legacy characters played by Laura Dern, Sam Neill, and Jeff Goldblum.

Steven Spielberg will be an executive producer through Amblin Entertainment, with Frank Marshall and Patrick Crowley as producers. Additionally, David Koepp, known for co-writing the screenplay for the original Jurassic Park and The Lost World: Jurassic Park, will serve as the film’s writer.

Although we don’t yet know where the new trilogy will be taking viewers, the notion of a new Jurassic era could very much point to a new cast and possibly leads. Although you can never count out the reprisal of the roles that have shaped both trilogies, some fresh faces could very well be ushering in the next chapter of Jurassic World.

With Dominion establishing the aftermath of the destruction of Isla Nublar in Fallen Kingdom, we saw a world where humans and dinosaurs tried to co-exist which opened doors to a new sleuth of dangers as humans found themselves dropped a few notches in the food chain, poachers found new prey, and the planet found itself the playground for a battle between species trying to establish themselves as the apex predator.

This opens the door for many new avenues to explore within the state of the world we last saw.

As Universal prepares to launch this new era of Jurassic World, you can stay tuned for more updates.
