Netflix Reveals First Look at Uncle Iroh and More Characters in Live-Action Adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender

Netflix has revealed a first glimpse of the Fire Nation in its live-action adaptation of Avatar: The Last Airbender. The released images showcase some beloved characters, such as Uncle Iroh and Princess Azula, which show the characters come to life in picture-perfect adaptations of the characters from the animated series. Among the images, we get a look at Prince Zuko without his helmet, along with his father, Fire Lord Ozai, and the determined Commander Zhao.

For those who may have missed earlier announcements, Uncle Iroh is portrayed by Paul Sun-Hyung, best known for his role in The Mandalorian. Elizabeth Yu takes on the role of Princess Azula, while Daniel Dae Kim brings Fire Lord Ozai to life. Ken Leung steps into Commander Zhao’s shoes, and Dallas Liu portrays Prince Zuko. Additionally, Gordon Cormier will play the hero Aang, Kiawentiio will take on the role of Katara, and Ian Ousley will portray Sokka.

The full cast was revealed in September 2022. The live-action adaptation of the beloved Nickelodeon animated series was initially announced back in 2018, and almost five years later, we see the live-action adaptation having taken form and working its way to the streaming platform.

It is expected that Netflix will adapt the first season of the series into eight hour-long episodes. This season follows Aang on his journey to fulfill his destiny as the Avatar, where he must master the four elements: water, earth, fire, and air. Accompanied by his loyal friends Katara and Sokka, the trio embarks on a mission to seek a water-bending teacher at the Northern Water Tribe. Meanwhile, they must constantly evade the relentless pursuit of Prince Zuko, who is determined to capture the Avatar and restore his own honor.
