Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak Confirmed For June Release, New Amiibo, Monsters, and Locations Announced
Capcomrevealed during their Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak digital event that the highly-anticipated expansion is set to arrive this June. They also revealed new monsters, locations, and an Amiibo coming for the big expansion. The trailer highlighted a new open area that players will be able to explore called The Citadel.
Monster Hunter producer Ryozo Tsujimoto said there will be “never-before-seen” endemic life such as the marionette spider and morphed wirebug, both of which are variations of helpful creatures found in the base content in Rise.
Hunters will also be getting a new center of operations called Elgado. The encampment is built off the shore of an ocean and gives off vibes resembling a fort rather than Kimura Village. Players will have the chance to meet new characters at this new encampment such as Royal Knight Fiorayne, General Galleus, and Chichae, your new quest giver. There will also be all the blacksmiths and merchants you need to get ready for the next big hunt.
The event also revealed new monsters coming our way such as the Garangolm, which is one of the trio of monsters known as The Three Lords. Garangolm is a fanged beast that resembles a gorilla with armor that can become enraged and deals some serious water and fire damage.
Lunagaron is a wyvern and is the first players will meet in Sunbreak. You will find it near Kimura Village and will play into hunters arriving in ElgadoOutpost. Lunagaron covers its body in ice armor as it comes down on hunters claw-slashing when enraged.
Astalos is a flying wyvern that is sure to shock you and makes its electrifying return for the new expansion. With electricity generated from its wings, horn, and tail, it will make a difficult target for hunters. Having only been seen in Generation, this is the first time we see Astalos in a mainline title.
Along with all the new in-game content coming to Rise. Nintendo announced that a trio of Amiibos will be released alongside the expansion. The set of three includes the new Elder Dragon Malzeno and a Palamute and Palico. Using these Amiibos with the Switch version will grant players new Formal Dragon Layered Armor to use in-game.
Monster Hunter Rise Sunbreak will release on Nintendo Switch and PC on June 30th, 2022. Check out the trailer below:
