A Monstrous First Look at Apple TV+’s Monarch: Legacy of Monsters

Apple TV+ has unveiled the title of its highly anticipated Monsterverse series, Monarch: Legacy of Monsters. The show, which is part of the franchise that kicked off in 2014 with Gareth EdwardsGodzilla, will feature a monstrous storyline that spans over 50 years. Starring Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell in the same character in the span of 50 years, the series revolves around a family’s quest to uncover the truth about their father’s involvement with the secretive Monarch organization.

Joining the talented cast are Anna Sawai, Kiersey Clemons, Ren Watabe, Mari Yamamoto, Anders Holm, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski. The Monsterverse has been evergrowing with hit films and the future seeing the universe grow into movies, TV, and animation with Legendary even seeing the property invade DC Comics in a planned crossover event with the Justice League.

Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking revelation that monsters are real, “Monarch: Legacy of Monsters” tracks two siblings following in their father’s footsteps to uncover their family’s connection to the secretive organization known as Monarch.

Clues lead them into the world of monsters and ultimately down the rabbit hole to Army officer Lee Shaw (played by Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell), taking place in the 1950s and half a century later where Monarch is threatened by what Shaw knows. The dramatic saga – spanning three generations – reveals buried secrets and the ways that epic, earth-shattering events can reverberate through our lives.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters is the brainchild of co-creators Matt Fraction and Chris Black. Both will also serve as executive producers alongside Matt Shakman, the visionary behind Marvel‘s acclaimed WandaVision, who will also direct the first two episodes. Executive producers also include Joby Harold (Obi-Wan Kenobi) and Tory Tunnell of Safehouse Pictures, as well as Hiro Matsuoka and Takemasa Arita of Toho Co. Ltd.

Monarch: Legacy of Monsters promises to be an exciting addition to the Monsterverse franchise and a must-watch for fans of the universe or epic monster battles. Stay tuned as more information is released for the Apple TV+ exclusive.
