Man of Steel 2 Reportedly in Development with Henry Cavill Returning
Warner Bros. Discovery is reportedly moving forward with Man of Steel 2 after almost a decade since the first entry of the Zack Snyder film released. The Hollywood Reporter released an exclusive confirming that DC is developing the sequel to the hit film with Henry Cavill set to return. The DC Universe has been in rough shape as of late due to the WB Discovery merger that has put many projects in danger and led to the cancellation of the Batgirl film, which was not taken very well by the fandom.
Say what you want about the Snyderverse, but Cavill’s Man of Steel was a shining moment in the DCEU and he has continued to trend upward in portraying characters adapted from other mediums such as Geralt in Netflix‘s The Witcher. The fact that a sequel was not given to Cavill sooner is criminal and it’s a step in the right direction of the studio’s long-term plans to bring back one of the shining characters and films from the previous DCEU they seem to want to move away from.
The big-scale plans for the DCEU seem to be moving forward as they search for a writer to script Man of Steel 2. They also have brought in longtime DC producer Charles Roven onto the project with the studio said to have a list of directors they are eyeing including director Christopher McQuarrie who worked with Cavill on Mission: Impossible – Fallout.
No other details or possible release window were given for Man of Steel 2 but stay tuned as more updates on the development of the film are released.
