Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell Join Godzilla and the Titans Series
Apple TV+ has announced that Kurt Russell and Wyatt Russell will star in the live-action Godzilla and the Titans series. The series will fall into Legendary Pictures‘ MonsterVerse which so far includes Godzilla, Kong: Skull Island, Godzilla: King of the Monsters, and Godzilla vs. Kong. The series will focus on the “thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the untitled Monsterverse series will explore one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
The synopsis reads:
“Following the thunderous battle between Godzilla and the Titans that leveled San Francisco and the shocking new reality that monsters are real, the series explores one family’s journey to uncover its buried secrets and a legacy linking them to the secret organization known as Monarch.”
The series was co-created by Matt Fraction and Chris Black and Black will also serve as showrunner. The first two episodes of the series are being helmed by Wandavision‘s Matthew Shakman with Anna Sawai, Ren Watabe, Kiersey Clemons, Joe Tippett, and Elisa Lasowski also attached to the series.
Kurt Russell is a film icon known for classic films such as Big Trouble in Little China and Escape from New York. Both he and Wyatt Russell were featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe as Kurt Russell appeared in Marvel’s Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 and now looks to bring his talent that spans over forty years to another franchise.
Wyatt Russell might not have as impressive a resume as his father but he certainly has his talent. Having been part of the horror film Overlord and the acclaimed series Under the Banner of Heaven which is also housed at Apple TV+, he made his presence known during his role as John Walker a.k.a U.S. Agent. Having held the mantle of Captain America during the Disney+ original series The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, he has shown immense talent and now, just like his father, looks to bring his talent to another beloved franchise.
Godzilla and the Titans does not currently have a release date. Stay tuned as more information becomes available.
