Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard Cast in Five Nights At Freddy’s Film Adaptation
Blumhouse has announced that Josh Hutcherson and Matthew Lillard have been cast in the Five Nights At Freddy’s film adaptation. Blumhouse has yet to reveal what role they will play but for a film that has been working towards coming to life much like the hellish animatronic dolls the film is inspired from, it has gone through many changes and setbacks since being optioned for a film seven years ago. Deadline reports the two stars have been cast as the film’s leads but Blumhouse has yet to confirm that report.
The Five Nights at Freddy’s film saw itself optioned for a film in 2015 by Warner Bros. with director Gil Kenan set to helm. The film’s production was dropped by Warner Bros. and Blumhouse acquired the rights to the film shortly after. Chris Columbus jumped on board to direct but issues with the script between the Blumhouse and developer Scott Cawthon led to Columbus stepping away from the project.
For those of you unfamiliar with the game, Five Nights at Freddy’s follows a security guard who starts a job at Freddy’s Fazbear’s Pizza. Working his first night on the job, things become a bit supernatural and deadly for the troubled security guard.
The film currently has Emma Tammi set to direct with a script written by Cawthon, Tammi, and Seth Cuddeback. Blumhouse is producing the film alongside Striker Entertainment with Cawthon and Jason Blum attached to produce. Russell Binder will executive produce the film. The film is reportedly slated to begin filming in February 2023 with Jim Henson’s Creature Shop on board to create the costumes for the live-action adaptation.
Stay tuned as more information is revealed for the Five Nights and Freddy’s film.
