Jerry Seinfeld To Star in and Direct UNFROSTED, a Comedy About The Creation of Pop Tarts.
Comedian Jerry Seinfeld is set to direct and star in a comedy movie that will tell the story of the creation of the classic breakfast pastry, Pop-Tarts. The film is titled Unfrosted, it’s set up at Netflix, and Seinfeld co-wrote the script with Spike Feresten and Barry Marder.
The film is inspired by a joke that Seinfeld has told in his Netflix comedy special about the world-shaking invention of the Pop-Tart, which rocked his world.
There’s a video of Seinfeld talking about the joke below and he explains:
“How did they know that there would be a need for a frosted fruit-filled heated rectangle in the same shape as the box it comes in, and with the same nutrition as the box it comes in?”
Seinfeld talks about the film and his inspiration to create it during the pandemic, which how can we blame him, we all were inspired to create while locked in our homes. He explains:
“Stuck at home watching endless sad faces on TV I thought this would be a good time to make something based on pure silliness. So we took my Pop Tart stand up bit from my last Netflix special and exploded it into a giant, crazy comedy movie.”
