Jason Schwartzman Cast as The Spot in Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse
Sony Pictures‘s Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is still about a year away but as we wait for the highly-anticipated animated sequel to Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse. The news still keeps coming for the film as the film’s official Twitter account announced that Jason Schwartzman will be lending his voice to the villain The Spot.
The character in the comics was created by Al Milgrom and Herb Trimpe and made his comic debut in the 1985 issue, The Spectacular Spider-Man #98. Dr. Jonathan Ohmn a.k.a. The Spot is a villain who is covered in black dots. These black dots are wormholes that he uses as portals to teleport himself through time and space.
Schwartzman joins the previously announced cast including Shameik Moore, Hailee Steinfeld, Jake Johnson, Issa Rae, and Oscar Issac. The film will be helmed by a trio of directors made up of Joaquim Dos Santos, Kemp Powers, and Justin K. Thompson who will work off a script penned by Phil Lord, Christopher Miller, and Dave Callaham.
Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse is set to release in theaters on June 2nd, 2023. Check out the new image below:
