Jacob Vargas Cast in National Treasure Disney+ Series
Disney+ has announced that Jacob Vargas has joined the upcoming National Treasure series based on the popular film franchise that starred Nicolas Cage & Justin Bartha. Vargas will have a recurring role in the series with the likeliness of playing a major role in the series’ plot.
Bartha will be reprising the role of Riley Poole that he played alongside Cage’s Ben Gates in the original film and sequel titled National Treasure: Book of Secrets. Vargas is set to portray the character of Rafael, who’s described as a “rugged, treasure obsessed, adventurous soul with a good sense of humor.”
The series will star Lisette Alexis in the lead role and will be joined by Catherine Zeta-Jones, Zuri Reed, Jordan Rodrigues, Antonio Cipriano, Jake Austin Walker, and Lyndon Smith. Marianne and Cormac Wibberley scripted the pilot episode which will be helmed by Mira Nair.
The series will be executive produced by Rick Muirragui who also serves as a writer on the series. Nair and the Wibberleys are also set to executive produce alongside Jerry Bruckheimer, Jon Turteltaub, Jonathan Littman, and KristieAnne Reed.
Vargas recently starred in the Netflix original series Mr. Iglesias and has made recurring appearances in the Sons of Anarchy spinoff series Mayans MC. He has also had roles in Luke Cage, Princess of the Row, Cesar Chavez, and most recently can be seen on HBO Max‘s Kimi.
National Treasure will stream exclusively on Disney+. The series is currently in production but no release date has been announced.
