Insidious: The Red Door Trailer Shows off Patrick Wilson’s Dive Into the Further from the Director’s Chair
Blumhouse has unveiled the first trailer for Insidious: The Red Door. The film will bring new horrors for the Lamber Family who were the focus of the franchise’s first two films. The film will be helmed by Patrick Wilson who starred as Josh Lambert in the first two films. The film that started it all saw Josh Lambert and Renai Lambert (Rose Byrne) seek the help of a paranormal investigator named Elise Rainier (Lin Shaye) as inexplicable events find their son Dalton Lambert (Ty Simpkins) in a coma.
This marks the first time we are introduced to the parallel dimension known as the Further and after the events of the first film, we jump into Insidious: Chapter 2 which picks up right after the first film and ends with Josh Lambert being possessed by one of the spirits from the Further. The next two installments in the franchise were prequels and now we are set to follow the events of the first two films with The Red Door which was previously titled Insidious: Fear of the Dark.
The trailer shows us the Lambert’s hoping for a happy ending by forgetting the Further, but 10 years have passed, and the ghosts of their past are back again to terrorize the family. As Josh and Dalton begin to see the past torments crack into their daily lives, we see some familiar faces as the family looks to head to the Further one last time to put an end to the demons and ghosts targeting Dalton once again.
The synopsis for The Red Door reads:
“In Insidious: The Red Door, the horror franchise’s original cast returns for the final chapter of the Lambert family’s terrifying saga. To put their demons to rest once and for all, Josh (Patrick Wilson) and a college-aged Dalton (Ty Simpkins) must go deeper into The Further than ever before, facing their family’s dark past and a host of new and more horrifying terrors that lurk behind the red door.”
Wilson will make his directorial debut with his turn behind the helm in the film. He is also one of the faces in two of James Wan’s franchises with his roles in Insidious and The Conjuring franchise both co-created by James Wan. It only seems fitting that Wilson would hit yet another milestone in one of the franchises that have made him a staple in the horror genre. With his deep roots in Insidious and the horror genre, it should be more than interesting to see what he is capable of at the helm.
Insidious: The Red Door also stars Hiam Abbass, Peter Dager, and Sinclair Daniel. The film was penned by Leigh Whannell from a screenplay by Scott Teems. The film was produced by Jason Blum, Oren Peli, and Whannell and was executive produced by Brian Kavanaugh, Charles Layton, Steven Schneider, and Ryan Turek.

Insidious: The Red Door will haunt your local theater on July 7, 2023.
