Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions Announced with Testing Signups Now Open

Warner Bros. Games has announced a new standalone game titled Harry Potter: Quidditch Champions. The standalone experience will bring the popular Harry Potter sport to the gaming world with testing signups already open. Quidditch Champions will give aspiring wizards the opportunity to take part in the popular sport as well as “other broomstick adventures alongside friends in a competitive, multiplayer setting.”

As far as what those additional broomstick adventures will entail, it remains to be seen but from the games FAQ page, it seems as though this will be a heavily-leaning multiplayer live service game as it notes the requirement of constant internet connection. Likely why the expansion of activities is being explored.

Many fans were disappointed at the news that the highly-popular Hogwarts Legacy did not have the ability to play Quidditch and that it would not be added on at any point in the game’s additional content. Although it was explained in-game why the sport was not available, it could have possibly been due to WB Games already having a more ambitious idea for Quidditch as it was reported that Unbroken Studios has been working on Quidditch Champions for some years now.

This could either be a very great game, but with online-only multiplayer games, it always comes with a risk to pay off. The playtest definitely should favor the developers as they get feedback directly from the community to iron out any kinks and bugs or features that just need to be avada-kedavra’d.

Portkey Games will be publishing the game and they released a statement alongside WB Games on the connection of Quidditch Champions to the Harry Potter franchise, saying:

“While Portkey Games are not direct adaptations of the books and films, the games are firmly rooted in the magical universe of the Wizarding World. While remaining true to J.K. Rowling’s original vision, Portkey game developers chart new territory by creating fresh ways for fans to immerse themselves in the Wizarding World.”
