House of the Dragon Season 2 Premiere Date Confirmed

HBO has officially confirmed that House of the Dragon Season 2 is set to premiere in early summer 2024. Variety reported that the announcement was made by HBO network chief Casey Bloys during a New York event. Although a premiere trailer was also shared, it is currently under embargo and will be released at a later date.

House of the Dragon is based on George R.R. Martin‘s book Fire and Blood, which is set in the Game of Thrones universe. The series delves into the fall of House Targaryen during one of the most significant civil wars in the history of Westeros. The premiere episode, which aired last Sunday, captured the stunning landscapes and the brutal essence that fans have come to love from the Game of Thrones franchise. The premiere drew an impressive viewership of nearly 10 million across HBO and HBO Max, now known as Max.

The second season of House of the Dragon will bring back familiar faces, such as Matt Smith, Olivia Cooke, Emma D’Arcy, Eve Best, Steve Toussaint, Fabien Frankel, Ewan Mitchell, Tom Glynn-Carney, Sonoya Mizuno, and Rhys Ifans. Additionally, returning from the first season are Harry Collett, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Phia Saban, Jefferson Hall, and Matthew Needham.

Joining the ensemble for Season 2 are newly announced actors Gayle Rankin as Alys Rivers, Simon Russell Beale as Ser Simon Strong, Freddie Fox as Ser Gwayne Hightower, and Abubakar Salim as Alyn of Hull.

Fans can look forward to the continued saga of House of the Dragon as it unfolds in the gripping world of Westeros in early Summer 2024. You can stream the entire first season of House of the Dragon exclusively on Max.
