House of Lee: A New Bruce Lee Anime Coming in 2024

Exciting news for anime and martial arts fans! House of Lee, an upcoming anime series inspired by the legendary martial artist Bruce Lee, has been announced and will release in 2024. According to Deadline, the first glimpse of the anime will be unveiled alongside the 50th Anniversary 4K re-release of Enter the Dragon.

Shannon Lee, Bruce Lee’s daughter, expressed her enthusiasm about exploring Bruce Lee’s character within the creative realm of anime, saying:

“Anime is an amazing medium for telling a truly creative story where Bruce Lee can be Bruce Lee,”

Shannon Lee has long had the vision of a Bruce Lee anime, and her dream is now being realized through a partnership between Bruce Lee Entertainment and Shibuya, co-founded by artist Emily Yang.

House of Lee is described as an action/fantasy series centered around Bruce Lee assembling a team of Dragon Warriors to prevent the world from descending into “darkness and shadow.” The show draws inspiration from one of Bruce Lee’s famous quotes: “Those who are unaware they are walking in darkness will never seek the light.” It promises to combine elements of action, fantasy, history, culture, and creativity in captivating ways.

Shannon Lee expressed her admiration for Yang and Shibuya, recognizing their creative talent and the perfect fit they bring to the project. The partnership was solidified after Shannon Lee saw Shibuya’s White Rabbit anime short, which deeply resonated with her. The House of Lee anime delves into the Lee family legacy, exploring themes of spirituality, battling inner demons, and capturing various aspects of the AAPI experience.

To celebrate the 50th anniversary of Enter the Dragon, the film will re-release in 4K and be screened in 650 theaters across the United States. Esteemed film historian Leonard Maltin will provide an introduction, offering insights into the movie’s lasting impact and influence.

Enter the Dragon will premiere in theaters once again on August 13, and August 16, 2023. House of Lee will premiere sometime in 2024. Check out the trailer below:
