Halo Infinite Co-Op Beta Announced By 343 Industries
343 Industries announced that the long-awaited Halo Infinite co-op has gotten closer to a full launch. The studio will be holding a co-op beta this July that will allow registered players to play the entire campaign alongside a friend and in turn, will be part of the process to ensure a smooth launch when it fully releases. One thing the studio noted is that since this will be a new build that must be downloaded, the previous progress players have made on the campaign will not transfer over. Luckily, you now will have a friend to help you blast through enemies throughout the campaign.
343 Industries lead world designer John Mulkey and lead software engineer Isaac Bender discussed the features coming to co-up in the blog post. The pair mentioned that a fireteam of up to 4 players will be able to create their own saves for campaigns for co-op. All progress will still count towards all players participating and includes completed missions, equipment, upgrades, collectibles, and achievements. Upgrade cores will also be shared among the entire fireteam, so if you aren’t the one that collects it, don’t worry, you will still get it.
Campaign progress and how it will work in the game was also a topic of discussion with Mulkey saying:
“The way we are handling this is through something we internally refer to as ‘No Spartan Left Behind’. When players join the Fireteam and choose their save slots to play on, the game aggregates the states of all missions across those saves and sets up a world state in which any missions completed by all Fireteam members are marked as complete while any missions not completed by all are marked as incomplete.”
Bender added:
“You can think of this system as creating a version of the world that’s like the ‘lowest common denominator (or ‘intersection,’ if you’re into set theory) of everyone’s Campaign progress. This way, no matter what you do, no one is completing missions out of order.”

Players looking to be part of the network beta will need to be part of the Xbox Insider Program. Xbox Game Pass members are able to join the Insider program and Steam players will have to sign up through the Halo Insider Program. Once you sign up, if you are chosen, you will be notified by email.
Halo Infinite‘s co-op beta goes live July 11th, 2022, and will run until July 22nd, 2022.
