Supergiant Games made a huge announcement at The Game Awards by dropping a world premiere trailer of Hades 2. The sequel to their wildly successful predecessor, Hades, the studio looks to bring a new protagonist into the roguelike title that saw Zagreus take on lost souls as they fought their way through the underworld.
The game will be a direct sequel according to the press release with the events in Hades 2 taking place after the original game. The studio notes that players will be able to jump into the sequel with the new female protagonist taking on hordes of lost souls without having played the original game but for those of you who enjoyed Hades, you will see plenty of connections between the two titles.
Supergiant Games adds that players will dive into a deeper mythic as Melinoë, Princess of the Underworld and sister to the previous title’s protagonist Zagreus. Hades II will be coming to early access in the same fashion that Hades did and will give players the opportunity to see the game’s growth and become part of the development process as the highly-anticipated sequel works towards a full release. Supergiant Games notes that more information on early access will be coming in early 2023.
Hades II will likely be released for PC on both Steam and Epic Game Store in 2023 but be on the lookout for more news on the early access in early 2023.
