Gina Rodriguez Returning to Network TV With Comedy Series Not Dead Yet

ABC has cast award-winning actress Gina Rodriguez in a starring role for their upcoming comedy pilot Not Dead Yet. The series is set to follow a woman at a crossroads in her life who finds herself working as an obituary writer. The series is based on the 2020 novel Confessions of a Forty-Something F**k Up by Alexandra Potter. This will be Rodriguez’s first starring role in a sitcom since The CW‘s Jane the Virgin which ended in 2019.

Not Dead Yet is being developed by Casey Johnson, David Windsor, and McG. Johnson and Windsor wrote the script for the pilot and are set to serve as executive producers alongside McG.

Rodriguez will star as Nell Stevens, a self-proclaimed disaster who is trying to get her life back on course. After leaving her journalism career to help her fiancé fulfill his career, she gets left behind and winds up moving back to her hometown where she finds herself taking on a different type of writing job.

There is not yet a release date for Not Dead Yet.
