New House of the Dragon Images and Release Date Revealed

HBO has released new images and posters for the upcoming Game of Thrones spinoff series, House of the Dragon. The series is set to turn the clock back 200 years before the events of Game of Thrones and will follow the House Targaryen during their time ruling Westeros with mighty dragons at their side. The series is based on Fire & Blood, a prequel novel written by Game of Thrones author George R.R. Martin and focuses on the civil war between the Targaryen family that led to the family being split apart.

The new images show some of the series stars that will be ready to fight for the Iron Throne. Paddy Considine as King Viserys Targaryen, Matt Smith as Prince Daemon Targaryen, Rhys Ifans as Otto Hightower, Olivia Cooke as Alicent Hightower, Emma D’Arcy as Princess Rhaenyra Targaryen, and Steve Toussaint as Lord Corlys Velaryon. The main cast also includes Fabien Frankel as Ser Criston Cole and Sonoya Mizuno as Mysaria.

The House of the Dragon cast also includes Milly Alcock, Bethany Antonia, Phoebe Campbell, Emily Carey, Harry Collett, Ryan Corr, Tom Glynn-Carney, Jefferson Hall, David Horovitch, Wil Johnson, John Macmillan, Graham McTavish, Ewan Mitchell, Theo Nate, Matthew Needham, Bill Paterson, Phia Saban, Gavin Spokes, and Savannah Steyn. The series was created by Martin and Ryan Condal. Condal will also act as showrunner alongside director Miguel Sapochnik. Martin, Condal, and Sapochnik will executive produce alongside Sara Hess and directors Greg Yaitanes, Jocelyn Diaz, Vince Gerardis, and Ron Schmidt. Clare Kilner, Geeta V. Patel will also direct the series.
