Mad Cave Studios Announces Gatchaman 2024 Publishing Slate
Mad Cave Studios is kicking off its 10th anniversary with the exciting announcement of the 2024 Gatchaman publishing slate at ComicsPro! The Gatchaman license, acquired from Tatsunoko Productions in 2023, will bring forth a captivating array of content. This includes an ongoing series accompanied by a subsequent Vol. 1 trade release, individual character one-shots, and a Galactor miniseries.
These new Gatchaman titles will enrich the original Science Ninja Team Gatchaman continuity, each project offering its own unique focus while contributing to the overall publishing line.

Chas! Pangburn, Senior Editor at Mad Cave Studios, shared insights on the forthcoming projects:
“We’re delving into the world of the original Science Ninja Team Gatchaman series, encompassing 105 episodes of rich content. Our aim, through an ongoing series, one-shots, and spin-offs, is to expand upon this legacy with new characters, mechas, and villains, while honoring the existing continuity the series is revered for.
Tatsunoko graciously invited us to explore their universe, and we’re committed to pushing its boundaries. Fans, both new and longstanding, are in for a remarkable experience!”
Mark Irwin, Senior Vice President of Mad Cave Studios, also expressed his enthusiasm:
“We are thrilled to present a diverse publishing lineup of Gatchaman titles, catering to fans eager for more adventures with Ken, Joe, Jun, Jinpei, and Ryu. Being the publishers of the Science Ninja Team is a pivotal aspect of our tenth-anniversary plans, and it forms a core part of our Kagaku Ninpō (science ninja technique) for 2024 and beyond!”

The kickoff of the new series begins with Gatchaman #0, which arrives on Free Comic Book Day 2024. Notably, the issue features a cover by artist Chris Samnee.
Following this, the action continues to unfold in Gatchaman #1 in June. including Cover A by Inaki Miranda, Cover B by Sanford Greene (which connects with the B covers for issues #2-5), Cover C by Chris Batista, the Cover D Blank Sketch Cover edition, and Cover E retailer incentive by Francine Delgado. The trade paperback collecting the complete storyline from issues #0-5 will be available in December.
Debuting with Gatchaman—Ken: Deathmatch, the series focuses on Ken the Eagle’s compelling storyline. Ken embarks on an undercover mission to infiltrate an underground gambling ring, where martial artists from around the globe engage in deadly combat.
The victors are subsequently captured and taken to a clandestine Galactor recruiting base. Those who resist joining are left in the jungle as prey for Galactor’s brutal training program. Will anyone survive this harrowing ordeal?

Subsequently, the spotlight shifts to Gatchaman—Jun, a one-shot centered on Jun the Swan, scheduled for release in November.
The publishing program culminates with a four-issue miniseries that delves into the clandestine aspects of the Gatchaman universe. Galactor faces an internal threat as Berg Katse, following a covert attempt on his life, endeavors to expose a conspiracy born within Galactor’s earliest days.
The enigmatic Berg Katse assumes an undercover pursuit to identify and decisively eliminate a burgeoning revolution taking root within Galactor’s ranks, presenting a formidable challenge to the nefarious organization that opposes the Science Ninja Team Gatchaman.
Mad Cave recently unveiled their publishing plans for another big property which will see Flash Gordon invading comic shops near you this year. Be sure to look for these upcoming Gatchaman titles at your favorite local comic shop!
