Best-Selling Book, Fourth Wing, Being Adapted for TV
Exciting news for all Fourth Wing fans: the popular BookTok phenomenon, is being adapted for television. It was announced today that the rights to Rebecca Yarros’ hit series were picked up by Amazon MGM Studios and Michael B. Jordan‘s Outlier Society. While Rebecca Yarros won’t be in the writing room she will serve as an executive producer for the series.

For those who haven’t read Fourth Wing, you enter the brutal and elite world of Basgiath War College where there is only one rule: Graduate or Die. Twenty-year-old Violet Sorrengail is expected to live a quiet life among books and history. Now, the commanding general― her tough-as-talons mother―has ordered Violet to join the hundreds of candidates striving to become the elite of Navarre: dragon riders.
If the fire-breathing beasts don’t kill her, one of her fellow riders just might. Suspense, action, romance, and dragons blend in a propulsive fantasy adventure from NYT bestselling author Rebecca Yarros.
Fourth Wing, the first book in The Empyrean series, garnered a lot of attention on the book side of Tiktok at the beginning of 2023. Her publisher sent out advanced reader copies and it blew up on the social media platform. When the book finally released on May 2nd, it was hard to come by and sold out. As of August 2023, almost 400,000 copies had been sold.

Yarros took to her Instagram to drop the big reveal, saying:
“I’m so humbled and thrilled to announce that FOURTH WING has been optioned and is currently in development for a TV series by Amazon MGM Studios with Michael B. Jordan’s Outlier Society producing!!! They’re an ABSOLUTELY incredible team, and I can’t wait to see their adaptation of Fourth Wing brought to life! I have all the faith in the world in them!”

The Fourth Wing Universe is Expanding
The second book in the series, Iron Flame, will be hitting shelves on November 7th and fans will be happy to know that it and the remaining 3 books in the series were also picked up by Amazon. Yarros has to be thrilled that fans are just as excited as she is to see this incredible fantasy world come to life on television.
