Dark Horse Comics has announced Four Gathered on Christmas Eve. The upcoming graphic novel spans 72 pages and will spin tales in the longtime tradition of telling ghost stories on Christmas Eve. Bringing together the Four Horsemen of horror for this Yuletide tradition as the publisher enlists the talents of Mike Mignola, Becky Cloonan, Eric Powell, and James Harren for this very special graphic novel that will include four stories from these creators.

Describing the series, Dark Horse shared in the press release:

Four beloved comics storytellers come together to continue the Victorian tradition of sharing ghost stories on Christmas Eve. They will spin tales of the bizarre and terrifying to keep readers company on a cold Yule night. This is a unique approach to the ghost story format where the creators themselves become part of the story…

Powell shares their love for Christmas and scary stories, saying:

“As someone who unapologetically loves Christmas and spooky stories, I’ve always been intrigued that telling ghost stories used to be a regular part of the tradition. I’ve been kicking around the idea of doing a Victorian Christmas Ghost book for a while and was thrilled when three of my favorite comic creators agreed to join me.”

Powell is the mastermind behind the Eisner Award winning series The Goon which sees the titular character and his friend Franky take on not only mobsters but supernatural creatures. Mignola has taken readers to the pits of hell with his acclaimed series Hellboy which has been a staple in the supernatural genre and led to multiple film adaptations. Cloonan graced fans with By Chance or Providence which collected the award-winning trilogy of Wolves, The Mire, and Demeter. Lastly, Harren gave readers the monster-sized series Ultramega which saw a cosmic plague filling the world with kaiju.
